Inspiring piece, makes me feel motivated. Side note, do you have any military background? I noticed you brought in both the marines and air force as examples.
I devoured this, scrolling until my thumb got a cramp, wanting to read more. I just said to a forty-something writer who did a piece on feeling old: I guess procrastination isn't a bad thing, since I'm ten years older than him and only recently published a book.
That book I finally published is something I worked at way back when I was raising a small child (now an adult). But now I wake up as excited as a small child myself wanting to write more.
Maybe that's the key to feeling youthful, in spite of numerical years: Waking up to accomplish a big dream.
It's one small effort at a time that finally adds up to the accomplishment.
Hey, Michele. What a wonderful comment. Age should have very little bearing on when we determine our dreams and set out on our adventure. It's sounds like you've found your passion and are excited to stick with it. That's the embodiment of success to me. Keep up the great work and great things will come, I'm sure of it. :)
Hey Priya, I knew someone needed to hear these words because I have to constantly remind myself. I'm happy they reached you. I'd never heard of Steven until last week! He's got such good advice.
I could identify with almost everything he describes including finding writing early and then spending decades running from it! The Artist’s Journey is also a great read.
Yes!! One of my favorite songs to sing is “Times are hard for dreamers” (from Amelie!) because it is exactly how I feel. Dreaming is what makes life worthwhile, and there is nothing more tragic than someone who doesn’t believe in their dreams (or anyone else’s!). My favorite part is:
I needed to read these words today. Inspiring. Thank you. 🙂
Great! You got this, John. Let me know if you need anything. :)
Lovely encouragement. Thanks.🙂
Good to hear, Beverley!
Absolutely beautiful, and you inspire me.
Awe, thank you, Sandra! :)

Hey William, so glad you are feeling motivated. And yes! I served 12 years total in the US Air Force and the Utah Air National Guard.
This was exactly what I needed this morning. Thank you so much!
I'm so happy to hear this. Glad it was what you needed. It's amazing how that happens!

But it does start with a dream.

Very well said, and from the heart. I’m up for another adventure!
I love the artwork you insert into your writing as well.
Thank you! Never stop dreaming :)
Never, that’s what keeps me alive and wanting to wake up and get out of bed every morning. :)
Busily and most appreciatively embracing the suck! 🫡
haha! you have to, otherwise it embraces you...
This was exactly what I needed to read today morning. I’m also a huge fan of Steven Pressfield.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the recommendation!
Insightful and inspiring, Thank you!
Glad you found it inspiring! Thanks for reading and commenting, Shire. Make those dreams happen! :)

They say times are hard for dreamers
And who knows, maybe they are
People seem stuck, or lost at sea!
And I might be a dreamer
But it's gotten me this far
And that is far enough for me
Those are wonderful lyrics! I love it. Thanks for sharing that, Elle. Dreaming does make everything worthwhile. :)
