Flash Fiction and Poetry Prompt:
Exploring the Unknown
Write a poem or flash fiction piece that explores the concept of the unknown. This could be a journey into the infinite expanse of space, a dive into the deepest depths of the ocean, or a trippy exploration of the human mind. Use sensory details and vivid imagery to create a sense of wonder and intrigue, and leave room for interpretation and reflection.
Flash fiction is generally anything under 1,000 words (for the sake of this prompt).
Some possible questions to consider as you write:
What does the unknown represent to your character or speaker? Is it a source of fear, excitement, or both?
What obstacles or challenges does your character or speaker encounter on their journey into the unknown?
What discoveries do they make along the way? Are they surprising, unsettling, or inspiring?
How do they return from their journey, if at all? Do they come back changed, or do they bring something back with them?
This prompt will end on May 17, 2023. A poll will be held for readers to vote on their favorite piece between May 17 - May 24. Top prize for the poll winner will be a $25 gift card to the Storyletter Gift Shop.
