Last week, I completed a 5400-word short story as a submission to an open-call Western Horror anthology. I sent it over via their online form, and am eagerly awaiting word on if it will be accepted or not (could be up to 30 days). However, if it doesn’t get accepted, it’ll be posted here for you all to read for free.
It was the first time I ever submitted a manuscript to a publisher before. I learned a few things in the process. I’d like to share the steps I took to format my manuscript, and then open it up for discussion to hear about your submission experiences.
I’m also including a list of magazines and publishers hosting open calls for speculative fiction!
