Dear Reader,
Welcome to the Storyletter. There’s a special relationship between reader and writer, something unique to the medium. Without you, there’s no story. True, the writer facilitates the journey, but it comes to life when the reader makes it into their own. So here’s a story for you and I can’t wait to see what you make of it. ~ WM
Silent, oh silent, cozy and warm, silent, oh silent, just after a storm. The locks are all set, so is the alarm, in bed you get, protected from harm. Just before sleep, a quick check of the phone, an alert is displayed which cameras have shown: “Person detected”, yet you live all alone. Oh, who could it be outside of your home? You open the app, quite a curious cat, but it fails to load, how curious is that? A powerful thing to have eyes on the back, yet that loading wheel means that’s a power you lack. Marking the time, it came a bit ago, before the locks and alarm, so apropos. Now I creep and crawl, I tip, I toe, I’m down your hall and you do not know. A sweat starts to glisten and you listen real hard, although you can’t hear me for the beat of your heart. I’m a stealthy one, really, for it is my art, you’re but a plaything, just doing your part. Wide-eyed and frightened, I’ve got you in sight, then a light blares on and it's blindingly bright. Two shots ring out and I clutch my chest tight, and the last thing I hear is you saying, “Good night.” In bed you sit, protected from harm, the locks still set, along with the alarm. Silent, oh silent, just after a storm, silent, oh silent, cozy and warm.
That’s creepy! I liked it!
“ Now I creep and crawl, I tip, I toe,
I’m down your hall and you do not know.”
Yeah, that’s terrifying. And really, really good.
