TLDR: We need your help securing our spot in the Reedsy book launch newsletter by getting upvotes on the review page. Your support would be much appreciated. The link to the review is at the bottom of this post.
I submitted our first anthology, “Take Me There: A Speculative Anthology of Travel,” for review at Reedsy Discovery to see if a reviewer would pick it up and what the verdict might be. Well, a reviewer did pick it up, and it was received quite well—a five-star review, in fact!
In his review, Kennedy Odindo says the following:
A good short story should transport the reader into different worlds, allowing them to immerse themselves in the narrative and then bring them back safely. When compiled by various talented authors, short stories create an anthropological tapestry that is as captivating as captured in Take Me There, a speculative collection of travel wonderfully edited by Winston Malone. These stories encapsulate diverse themes, such as a human android capable of dreaming, the return of a presumed dead friend, a stalker from another world, the mysterious disappearance of an island, the merging of minds and many others. For readers of speculative science fiction, especially those obsessed with answers to the What Ifs, this anthology delivers.
If you’re unfamiliar with Reedsy Discovery, it’s a useful way for writers and publishers to get more eyes on their published work. It costs $50 to enter your book into the reviewer pool, and if it does get reviewed, it can be considered for their weekly announcement email that goes out to thousands of readers.
This is how Hallie, Community Manager at Discovery, explained the process:
Take Me There: A Speculative Anthology of Travel just launched on Discovery! To make the most of your launch, and move higher up in Discovery’s popular books feed, be sure to invite friends to upvote your book! The most upvoted books of the week will be considered for our newsletter.
Therefore, there’s a good chance we could land on that list for their newsletter since it’s a five-star reviewed book, and there are a lot of you following this newsletter who like supporting our work. As an anecdotal point to back how crucial this newsletter spot is, I bought a featured book last week, which I likely wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
So, what do you say? Would you be willing to take a few minutes to upvote Take Me There on Reedsy to help us secure a place in the marketing newsletter?
I’m also running an AMA in this post's comments and on the Reedsy review for those who want to learn more about it. Thank you!
Upvoted! I'm planning to self-publish this year and your book sounds intriguing!
Done - super exciting!
