Wow! This is one of the best, most interesting interviews I’ve read on SS so far! Elliott is whip-smart, wise, and very insightful. I totally agree about writing for the pure love of doing so, not to chase external (and ephemeral) validation. Intriguing but frightening point about SS and free-speech versus bottom lines. This seems true. We’ll see how things shake out; hopefully SS will be different but maybe there isn’t a ton of reason to necessarily expect this. Who knows. Funny about her NYC ‘everyone identifying as a writer’ experience.

By far the best line: ‘The only thing I remember about it was that everyone there gave unsolicited introductions of themselves as artists or writers—as in: Hello, I’m Mia; I’m a writer. It was bizarre. All I could think was, “bitch, please, you wait tables”. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great interview and I’m giving both of you a “10”. The questions and the responses were fantastic. I’m really enjoying these interviews and getting to know all of you. Thanks Winston, and nice to meet you J.M.
